This year's edition of the ORGATEC 2026 trade fair in Cologne was held under the guiding motto "From rooms to relationships: designing spaces in an ever-changing world", placing human beings and interpersonal relationships at the very centre of attention. The event outlined two key megatrends: Human-to-human experience, emphasizing the need for authentic interactions in the digital era, and Transition, calling for the dynamic adaptation of architecture to continuous change. As a brand that has been designing office furniture for years, we responded to these challenges with our own vision of the contemporary work environment.
Balma Between People
In response to the trade fair trends and our own history, we presented the core theme BETWEEN PEOPLE, which focuses on creating spaces that foster flexibility, concentration, and collaboration. We believe that furniture is not merely functional interior equipment, but also a catalyst for meeting, exchanging ideas, and building relationships in a rapidly evolving business world. Our vision aligns perfectly with the need to design flexible, sustainable spaces that seamlessly adapt to user requirements.
Our Stand is Our Manifesto
The stand was designed by Piotr Kuchciński - the designer responsible for many of our new releases, with whom we have collaborated for years on developing Balma's collections. It featured an open-plan layout, with zones seamlessly transitioning into one another: from discussion areas at the entrance to quieter nooks deeper within. We ensured both visual and acoustic calm, with neurodivergent and sensory-sensitive users in mind. We demonstrated how an office space can evolve alongside people and their changing needs.
At our stand, we brought together various types of furniture from our portfolio. On one side were the solutions Balma is most renowned for: the Qore and Stepps modular systems, Sit&Stand desks, classic Multibase workstations, and acoustic solutions such as Bbox. On the other side were soft seating and upholstered furniture that bring HoReCa sector comfort into the office landscape: Pinot chairs, Litt armchairs, Hej benches, Huga bar stools, Pung mobile stools, and Ram chairs. Together, they form spaces where precision goes hand in hand with comfort.
New Products
At Orgatec 2026, we unveiled six product premieres developed in collaboration with designers Piotr Kuchciński and Maja Ganszyniec Studio. Four new products were designed by Piotr Kuchciński: the City bench, a sculptural piece crafted from layers of plywood forming soft waves (a reissued design adapted to today's requirements); Barel tables featuring obelisk-shaped bases inspired by wooden wine barrels; the Tavon executive height-adjustable desk supported on a side credenza, with its lifting mechanism concealed within the legs and soft, rounded contours; and the Lafo coffee tables comprising four distinct table families. Two premiere products were created by Maja Ganszyniec Studio: the Sno swivel chair, whose form and function ideally complement conference room settings, and the comfortable Pinot lounge chair featuring semi-circular armrests for effortless sitting and standing.
Summary
Our presence at ORGATEC 2026 was not only an opportunity for valuable dialogue with architects and partners from around the globe, but also confirmation that we have chosen the right direction.
We would like to thank everyone who visited our stand and explored the future of work environments with us. We look forward to collaborating on upcoming projects!
