The postgraduate programme “ESG Manager. Sustainable Development in Business” at the University of Civitas in Warsaw has come to an end. We had the opportunity to celebrate its conclusion on May 18 during a ceremonial gathering that summed up a year of learning and hands-on experience. This unique initiative bridges the gap between academia and business practice and stems from a Letter of Intent signed by the President in September 2024 with CSRinfo – the organiser and academic patron of the programme.
This initiative responds to the growing need for education in ESG-related challenges and the principles of running a modern factory. It also supports learning about sustainable development and the practical application of these principles in the furniture industry.
Throughout the academic year, students gained knowledge in the field of sustainable business development, which led to the creation of strong ESG strategy proposals. Their work reaffirmed the direction we have taken, as outlined in Balma’s ESG strategy for 2024–2026 – which we will likely enrich with some of the students’ inspiring ideas.
“Furniture that’s friendly to people and the planet” – this simple phrase captures the conclusions of the students’ thoughtful analysis of Balma’s approach to sustainable development.
