Design, responsibility, and impact — see how we combine aesthetics with care for people and the environment.
Sustainability is not a project for us - it is a guiding philosophy.
For over 40 years, we have been designing office furniture that supports efficiency and wellbeing — and today, also the balance between people, business, and the planet.
Our ESG strategy is built on six pillars:
• Education and development,
• Wellbeing,
• Social engagement,
• Innovation and design,
• Sustainable management,
• Environmental protection.
Behind every action and project stand the people who bring our sustainability strategy to life each day. The past year was a time of consistently strengthening responsible processes, investing in the local community, and designing with the future in mind.
In 2024, our efforts delivered tangible results:
• 100% of the energy used in our factory came from renewable sources,
• Our 176-member team consisted of 94% local community residents,
• 15 vocational school students began apprenticeships at our company,
• 93.5% of the cardboard used in production came from recycling,
• CO₂ emissions per employee amounted to 1.8 tons — only 13% of the EU average,
• Emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the paint shop account for less than 10% of the permitted value.
• We received the iF Design Award 2024 for the Bbox acoustic booth design.
Our ambition is to create sustainable and environmentally friendly workspaces while ensuring employee safety. We use technologies that reduce energy and material consumption.
The energy used in our factory comes exclusively from renewable sources, and all lighting operates on LED technology. We recycle waste and maintain a closed-loop system for cardboard, while our painting and packaging processes are optimized to minimize raw material use. The carbon footprint of our products is regularly monitored and taken into account in production planning.
Employee development, workplace comfort, and strong team relationships are our top priorities. At the same time, we actively collaborate with the local community and support educational and cultural initiatives:
• Wellbeing and safety training
• Collaboration with the University of the Arts in Poznań and Civitas University (ESG and design projects)
• “Podzielnia” initiative – book and inspiration exchange
• Team-building trips and family events
• Local initiatives: Bieg Lwa run, Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP), and furniture renovation workshops
Transparency of processes and compliance with standards are key to us. Last year, we focused on maintaining high quality, safety, and ethical workplace relations.
• ISO 9001:2015 (quality) and ISO 14001:2015 (environment) certifications – successful 2024 audit.
• Furniture quality and safety certifications: G4, K2, J-system, Plus, Minimus, Multibase.
• PZH Hygienic Certificate (valid until 2029).
• No cases of corruption or legal proceedings.
• Balma Code of Conduct
• Supplier Code of Conduct
• Sustainable Development Policy
• Anti-Corruption Policy
• Human Rights Policy
• Anti-Mobbing and Anti-Discrimination Policy
• Whistleblower Protection Policy
• 90% of payments made on time (average: 17 days).
• 0 legal proceedings related to payment delays.
• Active dialogue with stakeholders: employees, clients, suppliers, architects, and the environment.
We collaborate with organizations, universities, and experts to collectively create responsible design. In October 2024, we participated in the Orgatec trade fair, presenting our new products and solutions that support modern workplaces. We also took part in the Accessibility Forum in Poznań and the “Wellbeing in Business” conference, sharing knowledge and experience in designing for people and the environment. Our initiatives were featured in the “Responsible Business in Poland 2023” report, highlighting the importance of collaboration and innovation in design-driven sustainability.
We encourage you to explore the documents that describe our approach to quality, ethics, and sustainable development.
