As a socially responsible company, we pay special attention to ensuring that our furniture is created in a sustainable way, at every stage of its creation. That is, that they take into account environmental aspects, as well as the specific needs of users, without excluding people with disabilities. We are committed to combining design with usability - for everyone.
On November 14, during the 1st edition of the Forum Dostępności*, we had the great pleasure of sharing our knowledge and experience in the field of conscious design. During the panel discussion entitled. "Furniture, office, ergonomics," Anna Śmieszek-Markuszewska - Marketing Director at Balma SA Furniture Factory said about how important it was for us to participate in this panel: "We feel honored to have been invited to discuss as part of the panel: "Furniture, Office, Ergonomics."
And she added: "All the furniture we create is, by design, adapted to people with disabilities. Examples include cabinets with 270-degree opening, desks in various shapes and with adjustable tops, designer hangers with hooks at different heights, and reception counters adjusted in height to accommodate people in wheelchairs. Our advantage is the ability to combine a representative space that meets the highest design standards with convenience and comfort at work."
The panel discussion focused on the current state of office furniture design used increasingly also in spaces - home office.
The parnelists unanimously stated that the Polish furniture market needs universal design, requiring research on health prevention, deeper reflection and cooperation with a group of experts, including people with disabilities.
The panel also stressed the importance of movement and silence on physical and mental health. There is clearly a growing awareness among employers of these important aspects. They are increasingly opting for solutions that support the wellbeing of their employees. They are equipping office spaces with ergonomic furniture (including height-adjustable chairs and desks), acoustic booths, small meeting rooms with soundproofing, and relaxation rooms.
The *Forum Dostępności is one of the most important events in Poland devoted to the subject of universal design and architectural accessibility. The first edition of the Conference was held on November 13-14, 2023 at the Poznań International Fair. It brought together representatives from the following industries: architecture, development and construction, public administration and industrial design entities. The event featured numerous panel discussions and presentations by companies involved in building barrier-free spaces. The event focused on discussing the challenges of legal and social changes related to architectural accessibility, as well as directions for the design of architecture and products accessible to all.
