Practical skills and solid knowledge are key to the development of young professionals. With this in mind, the program “Developing knowledge and skills in furniture restoration and traditional joinery" was created. It involved 14 students from a first-level vocational school. In June, the program reached its official conclusion — the culmination of several months of learning in a real professional context.
The project was initiated by Ryszard Balcerkiewicz, founder of Balma, who not only proposed the idea but also accompanied the students throughout the entire process, sharing his experience and professional philosophy. Krzysztof Szumski oversaw the formal and organizational aspects, ensuring smooth coordination and taking care of all documentation.
This initiative was a joint effort between Balma, Noti, Zespół Szkół Technicznych in Tarnowo Podgórne (a technical secondary school), Zespół Szkół Budowlano‑Drzewnych in Poznań (a vocational school focused on construction and woodworking), and Tarnowskie Stowarzyszenie Przedsiębiorców (Tarnowo Podgórne Entrepreneurs’ Association). The entire project was funded by the Municipality of Tarnowo Podgórne, using resources allocated to youth education.
The final element of the program was a study visit to Centrum Nauki Kopernik in Warsaw, where participants explored the principles of physics, mechanics, and new technologies through interactive exhibits.
We’re proud to support the next generation of specialists by strengthening their practical skills and craftsmanship in the furniture industry.
