A shared success of local cooperation
The official wrap-up of the project carried out by Fabryka Mebli BALMA SA, the Tarnów Association of Entrepreneurs and the Konstantynowo Forest District took place on 24 June 2026. The event provided an excellent opportunity to mark the culmination of the joint efforts, to thank all those involved, and to highlight the role of wood as a renewable resource that uniquely combines education, the economy and active nature conservation.
Practical skills combined with environmental protection
As part of this unique initiative, students from the Technical School Complex in Tarnowo Podgórne, training in carpentry and upholstery, built 50 wooden nesting boxes of various sizes under the guidance of experienced experts from Balma. These structures, tailored to the needs of birds found in the Tarnowo Podgórne municipality, were officially handed over to the Konstantynowo Forest District. As early as the coming seasons, they will make a tangible contribution to local biodiversity by providing birds with safe nesting sites.
More than just craftsmanship – the educational dimension
The project was of immense educational and vocational value to the young people. The students not only honed their practical craft skills in our production halls, but also took part in special field sessions led by foresters. This enabled them to learn about tree species, the stages of forest development and the key principles of sustainable forest management. This perspective allowed the young professionals to better understand how vital the responsible use of natural resources is in modern industry.
A successful partnership for the future
The initiative arose from an agreement signed on 19 March 2026 entitled ‘Development of knowledge and skills in furniture restoration and the manufacture of timber products’. The project was co-funded by the Municipality of Tarnowo Podgórne, which was a key partner in the venture.
The main aim of this collaboration was to organise additional technical classes for school pupils. From the first meetings in March right through to the grand finale in June, the project strongly engaged students, teachers, Balma’s technicians and representatives of public bodies.
The activities carried out are excellent proof of how the synergy between local institutions and business can bring benefits – both in terms of environmental protection and in the process of training future staff for the furniture industry.
